In 1942, during World War II, a German submarine sank Poon Lim's British cargo ship. He swam to a raft stocked with biscuits, water and a flashlight.
But supplies ran low. He pulled the flashlight's spring out, bent it into a fishhook and caught fish. Rainwater gave him drinks.
Fishermen came across him 133 days later. Told no one had lasted longer, he said, "I hope no one will ever have to break that record."
